The ACTRR is a fictitious line that runs in the 50's through the 70's from Albuquerque east through the Carnuel Spanish Land Grant through Tijeras Canyon to Tijeras and on to Moriarity where the line splits north to Madrid , Cerillos , Lamy and Santa Fe , and to the south from Moriarity through Estancia , Mountainair , west to Socorro, south to Kachina , Val Verde , San Marcial , Lava , Engle , Rincon , Dona Ana , Las Cruces , Anthony TX and finally to El Paso to interchange with the SP.
The OLD ACTRR you see in the pictures has been taken out of the room and as much of the scenery and structures have been saved , as possible. The Helix was a success on the OLD ACTRR and took the layout from 0 to 9 1/2" in elevation and the rest of the layout to get back to ground 0 at 2% grade. I was only unhappy with the fact I did not have enough room for myself and visitors to move within the old layout, so the decision was made to rebuild.
The NEW ACTRR will still be in the 8' X 19.5' room and use a modified version on the old bench work. I have decided to return to DCC and DC control using two Kato power packs and a Lenz Set-100 with the LH 100 and LH 90 throttles plus an XPA phone adapter and a 900mhz cordless phone for control. I am using Kato Unitrack and turnouts with great success so far. The layout is now about 50% complete and running well. Thanks for stopping in , Mike & Robin
